Chinese task forces to probe allegations of tainted goji berries

State media reveals the usage of unauthorized substances to enhance the appearance and durability of the crop

Officials in Golmud, located in Qinghai province, and in Jingyuan county, Gansu province, announced on Monday the formation of dedicated task forces to probe the matter.

"Golmud officials have stated that the findings of the investigation and the proceedings of the case will be disclosed to the public promptly."

"Individuals accountable for the crimes will face strict penalties as prescribed by law."

The food safety committee in Jingyuan released a comparable announcement.
