The Type 55, famed for its two-seater roadster body style and powerful 2.3-liter inline engine, set the bar for high-performance sports cars in the 1930s. With only 38 units produced, the Type 55 is a coveted collectible. Jean Bugatti introduced the innovative two-tone paint scheme with this model, which went on to become a hallmark of Bugatti's color division. The design of the "55 1 of 1" pays homage to the classic black and yellow paintwork of the Type 55.
Inside the car, the homage to the Type 55 continues. The interior is adorned with black leather and hand-stitched yellow highlights that reflect the theme of the exterior. Unique touches such as embroidered headrests bearing the "55 1 of 1" inscription and Jean Bugatti's signature on the door sills and dedication plaque emphasize the link to its heritage.
The Sur Mesure team's inventive efforts were focused on capturing the essence of the Type 55 and infusing it into the "55 1 of 1", all while incorporating contemporary components and technology. The design process demanded a meticulous equilibrium between the old and the new to forge a vehicle that pays homage to the Chiron Super Sport's storied past as well as its cutting-edge engineering.
