Brad Binder Secures His Spot: A Dive into the 2025 MotoGP Contract Confusion and KTM’s Strategy
Brad Binder Secured with Red Bull KTM Factory Team for 2025 Despite Uncertainty
Amidst speculation and unclear statements from KTM regarding team placements for 2025, Brad Binder's representative has shed light on the MotoGP racer's contractual status, confirming his commitment to the Factory Red Bull KTM team.
At the Barcelona event, KTM's motorsport head, Pit Beirer, caused quite a stir when he chose not to quash rumors and instead left Brad Binder's 2025 position with the Red Bull KTM squad unconfirmed.
In August of the previous year, Binder, who has been riding for KTM since 2015 and joined its Red Bull-sponsored official MotoGP team when he moved up to the premier class in 2020, renewed his agreement to stay with the team through 2026.
"Beirer expressed pride at the time, noting their collective accomplishments and expressing gratification that he has chosen to remain with their RC16 and stick with the team in orange."
"We are thrilled to retire the #33 bike for several more years ahead."
As the 2025 MotoGP offseason unfolds, with prominent riders like Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez still undecided on their contracts, Dorna's Jack Appleyard inquired if there was any validity to the speculation that Binder could switch from KTM's 'orange' team to GASGAS's 'red' team.
Is Binder guaranteed to "absolutely stay in this [KTM] team next season?"
"Beirer replied, "That, I truly cannot say."
"Our team views the project through the lens of having four MotoGP slots available. At the current moment, it's unclear who occupies each position or side."
"Therefore, we simply focus on the four locations and aim to optimize what we have."
The statement implies that the Pierer Mobility Group possesses the flexibility to assign Binder, its sole MotoGP competitor secured for 2025, to either the Red Bull KTM squad or the GASGAS Tech3 team.
Nonetheless, in response to inquiries about the matter, Bob Moore, Binder's manager, explicitly stated to Crash.net:
"Brad is under agreement with the Factory Red Bull KTM team."
Binder, who elevated KTM to a remarkable fourth place in the previous year's global championship, currently occupies the eighth position in the ranai-allcreator.com">kings, trailing by two positions and eight points behind GASGAS newcomer Pedro Acosta.
Jack Miller, the teammate of the South African rider, holds the 15th position, while Augusto Fernandez, who is on the same team as Acosta, is ranked 17th.
KTM, which last secured a victory in a dry grand prix at Catalunya in 2022, is currently engaged in a tight battle with Aprilia for the runner-up position in the manufacturer ranai-allcreator.com">kings, trailing behind Ducati.
