Bottas Eyes F1 Future with Confidence Amid Williams Return Rumors and Market Speculations
Valtteri Bottas expresses high certainty in retaining his F1 spot in 2025 amidst strong rumors linking him to Williams.
Valtteri Bottas expresses a near-certain belief, with a 99% assurance, that he'll be part of the Formula 1 lineup in 2025, amidst rumors suggesting he might make a comeback with Williams.
Bottas is among multiple drivers whose contracts are set to expire when the year concludes.
The Finnish driver has lost favor with Audi's leadership, with CEO Andreas Seidl considering either Carlos Sainz or the pair from Alpine as possible teammates for Nico Hulkenberg.
Bottas seems to be a significant figure in the driver market, having substantial connections to Williams.
There are also whispers of him being considered by Haas and Alpine for their 2025 candidate list.
During a conversation with a chosen group of journalists, including those from Crash.net, in Monaco on Thursday, Bottas shared insights into his career prospects.
"Currently, I haven't committed to any team," Bottas stated. "No, I mentioned that it's only confirmed once the contract is officially signed."
"In this activity, that's the general process. It's not always guaranteed, but I'm aiming for 99% nonetheless."
Upon being questioned about a specific schedule, he mentioned, “My hope is to have everything resolved quickly, which I imagine is also what the teams are aiming for since the situation is rapidly evolving. So, ideally, this should happen in the coming weeks.”
During the final race at Imola, Bottas was seen in the Williams team's garage, sparking widespread rumors about a potential comeback.
The 34-year-old collaborated with Williams leader James Vowles at Mercedes.
During Bottas' tenure with the team, Vowles served as the chief strategist for Mercedes.
On multiple instances, Vowles issued team directives to Bottas, leading to the well-known phrase, "Valtteri, it's James."
Bottas emphasized that his relationship with Vowles is strong, minimizing the significance of the previously mentioned team instructions.
"Absolutely not, it's consistently been positive. Clearly, there were moments, like the excitement around the comments made over the radio between James and Valtteri, but that's merely been magnified due to social media's influence. So indeed, my rapport with him has always been solid, direct, and transparent," he detailed.
Evaluating Williams, he determined: "In my opinion, they're on the correct path. He definitely understands what it takes for a team to reach the pinnacle. So indeed, upon learning he had taken the role of team principal at Williams, I was confident it was beneficial for the team given my familiarity with his capabilities. And indeed, up to this point, I believe he's performed admirably."
