Bezzecchi Eyes Comeback on MotoGP’s Most Beautiful Tracks After French Setback
Marco Bezzecchi: 'A fortnight of hurdles on two stunning circuits'
'In France, it was verified that we can match the speed of the top competitors, yet…'
Following his break from a long absence on the MotoGP podium since his win at the Indian Grand Prix in September of the previous year, Marco Bezzecchi faced a reality check with a couple of setbacks at Le Mans.
The rider from VR46 experienced crashes in both races held in France, including a tumble from a promising second position in the Sprint, and is now focused on leveraging his pace for better outcomes in the consecutive Barcelona and Mugello rounds, the latter being his home race.
"Bezzecchi stated, "The next fortnight presents us with significant challenges, yet it unfolds on two exceptionally scenic circuits. The closing sector in Barcelona features a distinct arrangement of turns."
"I'm eager to return to work. In France, we proved we could match the speed of the top competitors, yet during the race, we failed to cement our achievement."
"The aim is to keep pace with the top cyclists starting from Friday."
Team member Fabio di Giannantonio successfully completed both races in France, earning VR46 their initial Sprint points of the year by finishing seventh on Saturday, and then improved his performance by securing a sixth place in the grand prix.
"Maintaining a run of successful outcomes is definitely the aim during this consecutive series of races, especially on two of the season's most picturesque circuits," stated di Giannantonio.
"The leading quintet is narrowing the gap and we're definitely in for an intriguing weekend."
"In Catalonia, the key factor will be how well each team handles tyre wear, an area we have consistently excelled in so far…”
Di Giannantonio currently holds the ninth position in the world championship, leading Bezzecchi by 11 points.
