2024 Official Misano MotoGP Test – Combined Results (Session 1 & Session 2)
* Novice
Records of the Misano MotoGP:
Fastest lap: Francesco Bagnaia 1 minute 30.304 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap of the race: Marc Marquez with a time of 1 minute and 31.564 seconds (2024)
Reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia topped the timesheets, heading an all-Ducati top three finish at the conclusion of the Misano MotoGP Test.
On Sunday, the second-place finisher recorded his fastest lap at 1 minute 30.619 seconds during his 20th lap out of 26 in the afternoon. This performance put him 0.161 seconds ahead of Pramac's Franco Morbidelli, who had been in third place before crashing when a rain shower hit during the race.
Enea Bastianini, who rides for the same factory team as Bagnaia, was 0.366 seconds behind. Rookie Pedro Acosta, representing GASGAS Tech3, secured fourth place as the highest-ranking non-Ducati rider, marking his first appearance on the prototype RC16.
Fabio Quartararo showed promise by securing fifth place for Yamaha, testing an updated engine and the new chassis introduced for the race weekend.
Jorge Martin from Pramac, who led the title race and posted the quickest time in the morning session, finished sixth in the afternoon. He was just in front of Sunday's race winner, Marc Marquez from Gresini, and Marco Bezzecchi from VR46, who qualified for the front row. It seemed that Marquez didn't have any new updates to test.
Maverick Vinales, the top rider for Aprilia, secured ninth place while addressing engine braking problems encountered during the grand prix weekend.
Johann Zarco of LCR recorded the quickest time among the RCV riders, finishing in 18th place, 1.360 seconds behind the leader.
Honda's riders tested significantly updated aerodynamic components and chassis parts, but Joan Mir commented that the results fell short of his expectations. Repsol team members Mir and Luca Marini continued riding all day, despite having been too ill to participate during the race weekend.
Following a break over the weekend, MotoGP is set to return to Misano from September 20-22 for the 'Emilia Romagna' round, which has been scheduled as a replacement for the cancelled events in India and Kazakhstan.
First Session of the Official Misano MotoGP Test for 2024
Official Records of the Misano MotoGP:
Fastest lap: Francesco Bagnaia completed it in 1 minute and 30.304 seconds (2024)
Quickest lap of the race: Marc Marquez with a time of 1 minute and 31.564 seconds (2024)
After the San Marino MotoGP on Sunday, teams and riders reconvened at Misano for the last official in-season test of the 2024 season.
Joan Mir and Luca Marini have returned to the circuit to test Honda's latest updates. Mir was absent for the whole San Marino weekend because of severe gastroenteritis, while Marini also had to pull out of Sunday's race because he was unwell.
KTM riders are set to take their first rides on Pol Espargaro's prototype RC16, as Michelin prepares to introduce its 2025 front tire.
Fabio di Giannantonio from VR46 is skipping the tests to give his shoulder injury time to heal, while Jack Miller, who is departing KTM after this season, is anticipated to participate in the tests only briefly.
Following a wet beginning, GASGAS Tech3 newcomer Pedro Acosta led the majority of the first session, even though he experienced a fall.
Jorge Martin, whose championship advantage was reduced to just seven points due to an expensive pit-stop choice during Sunday's race, then managed to edge 0.041 seconds ahead right before the midday pause.
Franco Morbidelli, who is Martin's teammate at Pramac and had a fall during the rain on Sunday, joined Gresini's Marc Marquez, who won the race, and Ducati's current champion Francesco Bagnaia to round out the top five.
The second session is scheduled to begin at 2:35 PM local time and will end at 6:00 PM.
