Bagnaia Dominates Misano MotoGP Test with Glimpse into Ducati’s Future Tech and 2025 Michelin Tyre Insights
Initial insights into Ducati GP25's electronics and the 2025 Michelin tire disclosed
Francesco Bagnaia was at the forefront during Monday's Official MotoGP trial at Misano.
Finishing second in both races at San Marino, Francesco Bagnaia started his pursuit to improve his performance at 'Misano 2' by topping the charts in Monday's Official MotoGP test at the same venue.
The current titleholder, despite falling behind Marc Marquez in Sunday's major race, managed to earn 19 points over his championship contender Jorge Martin. He progressed from a fifth-place position in the morning session to recording the fastest time of the day during the afternoon session.
Bagnaia, who is still dealing with the physical consequences of his crash with Alex Marquez at Aragon, focused on configuring the 2024 motorcycle, reportedly testing a new frame. His primary focus, however, was on refining the electronic systems for the GP25.
"The day was uplifting and provided us with the opportunity to concentrate on various elements," the Italian remarked.
"Our primary focus was on enhancing various electronic components in anticipation of the upcoming year, before shifting our attention to identifying and addressing the areas requiring further development in the GP24, which served as our foundation for the day."
"We also tested the latest [2025] Michelin tire, and I truly enjoyed it.
"In general, I feel content. There's no doubt we've progressed, which leads me to think we're heading in the correct direction."
Bagnaia achieved a time of 1 minute and 30.619 seconds over his 51 laps, equivalent to twice the distance of a grand prix, while his team member Enea Bastianini trailed by 0.366 seconds in third place after completing 49 laps.
The Beast is set to transition to KTM for the upcoming season, concentrating on enhancing the present GP24 and conducting tests on the Michelin front tire.
"The outcome was affirmative. Alongside experimenting with aerodynamic features, efforts were made to enhance my comfort with the medium rear," Bastianini explained, having utilized the soft rear to secure the third position in the grand prix, trailing behind Marc Marquez and Bagnaia.
"Right from the start, I felt at ease, unlike during the race weekend, and this will be crucial for the upcoming race in Misano."
"We additionally put a new Michelin tire through its paces; initially, it seemed somewhat odd, yet after several circuits, I adapted to it and recorded impressive speeds. On the whole, I'm satisfied and prepared for the upcoming Grand Prix at my local circuit."
Franco Morbidelli from Pramac positioned himself between the Lenovo Ducatis, ensuring the top three positions were all GP24 racers. Meanwhile, newcomer Pedro Acosta led the charge for KTM, securing the best result outside the top trio.
The second Misano event, also referred to as the Emilia Romagna round, is scheduled for September 20th to 22nd.
