Bagnaia Dominates Misano MotoGP Test; New Electronics and 2025 Michelin Tyre Insight Revealed
Initial indications regarding the electronics of the Ducati GP25 and the 2025 Michelin tire have been disclosed.
At Monday's Official Misano MotoGP test, Francesco Bagnaia was at the forefront.
Finishing second in both races at San Marino, Francesco Bagnaia aimed to improve his performance at the second Misano event, kicking off his efforts by topping the charts at Monday's Official MotoGP test held at the same circuit.
The current titleholder, who was defeated by Marc Marquez in Sunday's grand prix but managed to score 19 points more than his championship competitor Jorge Martin, advanced from fifth place in the morning session to achieve the fastest lap of the day during the afternoon session.
Bagnaia, who is still dealing with the physical effects of his crash with Alex Marquez at Aragon, focused on configuring the 2024 motorcycle, reportedly experimenting with a new chassis. However, his primary focus was on refining the electronics for the GP25.
"The day was favorable, enabling us to concentrate on various elements," the Italian remarked.
"Our primary focus was on enhancing electronics to gear up for the upcoming year, and then we dedicated time to identifying and working on the aspects of the GP24 that require further improvement, which served as our foundation for the day."
"We also tested the latest [2025] Michelin tire, and I was quite impressed with it."
"In general, I feel content. We clearly progressed, which makes me think we're heading in the right direction."
During his 51 laps, which equate to twice the distance of a grand prix, Bagnaia recorded a time of 1 minute and 30.619 seconds. His teammate, Enea Bastianini, trailed by 0.366 seconds, securing third place after completing 49 laps.
The Beast is set to transition to KTM in the upcoming season, concentrating on enhancing the GP24 at present, along with testing the Michelin front tire.
"The outcome was favorable. Alongside experimenting with aerodynamic components, we focused on enhancing my comfort with the medium rear tire," Bastianini explained, noting that he secured third place in the Grand Prix using the soft rear tire, finishing behind Marc Marquez and Bagnaia.
"Right from the start, I felt at ease compared to the race weekend, which will be crucial for the upcoming race here in Misano."
"We additionally evaluated a fresh Michelin tire; initially, it seemed somewhat odd, but following several rounds, I adapted to it and achieved impressive lap times. On the whole, I'm satisfied and prepared for the upcoming Grand Prix at my local circuit."
Franco Morbidelli from Pramac positioned himself between the Lenovo Ducatis, securing a top-three finish exclusively for GP24 riders. KTM's newcomer, Pedro Acosta, led the remainder as the highest-placing rookie.
The Misano 2 event, also known as the Emilia Romagna round, is scheduled from September 20th to 22nd.
