Aston Martin Denies Adrian Newey Signing Amid Intense Speculation of Imminent Announcement
Aston Martin has refuted recent rumors suggesting they have recruited Adrian Newey and indicated that there will be no imminent announcement regarding this matter.
Aston Martin has refuted claims that they have hired Adrian Newey and stated that a formal announcement is not forthcoming.
According to a report in the Daily Mail, an announcement regarding Newey potentially moving to Aston Martin may be made in the near future.
According to the story, Newey is set to receive an impressive annual salary of £20 million from Aston Martin.
The subject of Newey's future has been widely discussed ever since it was revealed before the Miami Grand Prix that he would be leaving Red Bull.
He is considered one of the best car designers in Formula 1 history, playing a key role in championship wins for both McLaren and Red Bull.
A representative from Aston Martin informed Crash.net that Adrian has been associated with several teams and would be a valuable asset to any project he chooses to be part of.
"He's among several notable figures rumored to be involved in the thrilling Aston Martin initiative, but there's nothing official to report at this time."
Rumors are swirling about when Newey will make his next move in Formula 1, with Sky commentator David Croft hinting during the Italian Grand Prix weekend that a revelation might come this week.
During Sky’s coverage of FP3, Croft mentioned, “We could possibly get news about Adrian Newey’s future in the coming week.”
Newey has been strongly associated with several teams, such as Ferrari, McLaren, and Williams.
McLaren and Williams have openly stated they will not be hiring Newey, whereas Ferrari was originally considered the frontrunner to secure his services.
It seems that Lawrence Stroll's thrilling Aston Martin initiative has caught Newey's interest.
Stroll has poured significant funds into upgrading Aston Martin’s Silverstone base, including developing a cutting-edge headquarters and bringing on board some of the best engineers in Formula 1.
Joining Aston Martin would enable the 65-year-old to stay in the UK, avoiding a move to Italy, which he has previously been hesitant about.
Fernando Alonso, the Aston Martin driver, commented on the rumors during the Monza weekend.
He remarked, "At this point, it’s just speculation, and I believe that addressing the situation isn’t a task for just one individual."
"It's primarily about our current situation and our ongoing production efforts. It's crucial to recognize what aspects are progressing positively and which ones are not, so we can better prepare for 2025."
