Ant, Tencent, Baidu, Microsoft, Google, and Meta Unveil New AI Supply Chain Standard Under UN Framework to Enhance Security and Trust
A new standard for AI supply chains, backed by the UN, has been established with the collaboration of leading tech companies including Ant, Tencent, Baidu, Microsoft, Google, and Meta. The purpose of this standard is to mitigate potential risks such as data breaches, manipulations of models, and non-adherence by suppliers.
On Friday, the firms revealed their "Security Requirements for Large Language Model Supply Chain" in collaboration with the World Digital Technology Academy (WDTA). This announcement was made at a concurrent event during the Inclusion Conference on the Bund in Shanghai.
The fresh benchmark, encompassing the whole life span of LLMs, is a component of the WDTA's expansive AI Safety, Trust, and Accountability movement. Founded in Geneva in April 2023 within the scope of a United Nations' scheme, the WDTA's goal is to offer extensive strategies for handling security threats throughout the supply chain, including data breaches, model interference, and supplier violations.
The benchmark was prepared and scrutinized by specialists from prominent Chinese and American tech companies, as well as major educational and industry bodies, such as the Greater China Region's Cloud Security Alliance and Singapore's Nanyang Technological University.
"Global collaboration on AI-based guidelines has become progressively essential as artificial intelligence keeps evolving and affecting multiple industries worldwide," stated Peter Major, head of the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development and Honorary Chairperson of the WDTA, during a panel conversation.
