**Andrea Dovizioso Remains Coy on Future Amid Yamaha Test Role Speculation**
Is Andrea Dovizioso thinking about taking on a full-time MotoGP testing role with Yamaha?
The MotoGP rider, who has won 15 races, is not revealing his future plans.
Ex-MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso believes that it is not the right time to discuss taking on a permanent Yamaha test position, even though he has recently been riding the M1.
Dovizioso ended his racing career midway through the 2022 season due to difficulties performing well with RNF Yamaha. He had teamed up with the team in late 2021 after taking a short break from the sport.
The ex-Honda and Ducati rider participated in a test session for Yamaha at Misano before the San Marino Grand Prix, substituting for Cal Crutchlow, who is still recuperating from hand surgery.
In a covert private test at Mugello, Dovizioso geared up for his next challenge, and Yamaha is considering scheduling another session for the Italian in November.
This has led to discussions about the possibility of Dovizioso becoming a full-time test rider for Yamaha next year.
This decision appears logical for the Japanese company, considering the individual's familiarity with the M1 during its peak performance in 2012 and its struggles beginning in 2021, along with his previous collaboration with technical director Max Bartolini.
In response to whether he was in talks with Yamaha about a test role, Dovizioso commented, "I don't know. Now is not the appropriate time to discuss that."
"They are engaged in numerous activities as they are establishing a secondary team with Pramac. They are making significant efforts to make a return."
"They invested significant funds and put in considerable effort to ensure the optimal outcome."
"It’s a gradual process, advancing one step at a time. At this point, it’s not appropriate to discuss a full-time testing role."
“It was really enjoyable to have extra time with them on the track, and we’ll find out what happens next.”
Dovizioso commented that his speed during the Misano test was "quite decent" despite a two-year break from riding, and he also praised his strong connection with the Japanese brand.
"I conducted a test at Mugello a month prior, and when I arrived at Misano afterward, everything felt normal," he mentioned.
"I managed to regain my braking technique. It felt great because it allowed me to be aggressive and maintain speed."
"The lap time was quite decent, which is crucial. A lot has changed over the past two years."
"The bikes are significantly quicker now due to various factors, including advancements in technology and improvements in the tyres. However, it was still enjoyable to experience everything, even if the speed was slightly reduced by one to one and a half seconds."
"I’m uncertain about what the future holds. Currently, we maintain a strong partnership with Yamaha, and I have established a positive rapport with Max due to my time with Ducati."
"It was really pleasant to be with them. Their circumstances are quite unusual."
"They need to make up a significant deficit. This process requires time and must be approached incrementally while comprehending all aspects, as the competition is currently extremely tough."
