Alibaba’s New Digital Technology Venture: An Exploration of Taobao and Tmall Group’s Potential Expansion and Focused Operations

Alibaba establishes a new 'digital technology' company within its e-commerce department, Taobao and Tmall Group. This new establishment seems to show that TTG might seek additional business growth or concentrate more on specific operations.

Founded on August 23, the newly formed company named "Hangzhou Taobao and Tmall Digital Technology Co" will participate in diverse sectors, encompassing: importing and exporting products; vending food, everyday supplies, outdoor gear and home appliances; plus tech-centric services like software creation and technology exchange.

Although these may encompass the usual range of activities for an e-commerce firm established on the mainland, the newly formed entity seems to indicate how TTG might seek additional business growth or concentrate on specific operations.

Alibaba, the owner of the South China Morning Post, did not respond promptly to a comment request on Tuesday.
