Alex Rins Eyes Reset at Mugello Test After Challenging French MotoGP
Alex Rins Emphasizes the Need for a Fresh Start
Alex Rins highlights the necessity of starting anew, spending two days riding at Mugello to explore potential enhancements.
The French MotoGP turned out to be a challenging race for Alex Rins, who found himself at the back of the pack for a significant portion of the first half, unable to get past Luca Marini.
However, as soon as he managed to pass the Repsol Honda competitor, the Monster Yamaha competitor faced recurring issues with grip during braking.
Rins managed to secure the last point by finishing 15th, a position he achieved due to the retirements of several competitors ahead of him, among them his team-mate Fabio Quartararo.
"Rins expressed, "It was incredibly challenging. From the start, I found it hard to pass the riders ahead of me. That was the primary issue."
Initially, the front wheel lifted too much, causing me to drop back in the field. As the race progressed, I found myself continuously trailing behind Marini, lap after lap.
"I attempted to adjust the throttle level to maintain solid traction and stay near enough to him to pass him on the straightaway and during braking, but it turned out to be an unachievable task for me."
There came a moment when I managed to overtake him, and as I rode solo, I faced the issues that had plagued us throughout the weekend; difficulties in halting the bike while braking and experiencing significant sliding as we entered the turns.
"This past weekend was a time for learning and absorbing knowledge, as I didn't sense any progress being made on a daily basis."
"Thus, it's crucial for us to hit the reset button. We're gearing up to get back on the bike for a two-day stint in Mugello for a significant private test, hoping to see some improvements."
When asked about his teammate Quartararo's showing, which ended with the local favorite crashing from the sixth position, Rins commented:
"Fabio performed impressively over the weekend, yet we both continue to face similar challenges… there's still significant room for advancement."
This week at Mugello, the Yamaha squad will be accompanied on the circuit by racers from Honda as well as test pilots from both Ducati and Aprilia.
