**Alex Marquez Denies Deliberate Collision with Bagnaia: “It’s Not in My DNA or This Sport’s”**
Alex Marquez replies: “I would never purposely collide with another rider”
Alex Marquez denies any claims that he 'intentionally' collided with Francesco Bagnaia, stating: 'It goes against my principles and the principles of this sport.'
Alex Marquez has issued a response after coming across certain comments following Sunday's MotoGP incident in Aragon involving Francesco Bagnaia.
The duo were caught in a severe crash when Bagnaia tried to overtake the Gresini racer for the third position, following Marquez's wide turn.
The FIM Stewards concluded that 'no further action' was necessary because 'neither rider was found to be mainly at fault'.
However, Marquez appears displeased with Bagnaia's remarks implying that the Gresini rider maintained acceleration instead of steering clear of a collision.
"When I approached turn 13, I could hear his engine revving up. He was accelerating. It was clear he was aiming to make contact," Bagnaia explained to MotoGP.com.
"I examined the data and noticed that he maintained between 60 to 40 percent throttle until the moment of the crash. In my opinion, that's quite unusual behavior for a rider."
On Monday, Marquez shared a post on social media:
“Having reviewed several statements, I feel the need to clarify the following points:
"I would never intentionally collide with another competitor, and I cannot accept being accused of it. Such behavior is against my principles and the very essence of this sport."
"The key aspect for me is the discussion I had with Pecco yesterday, and as far as I'm concerned, the matter is resolved."
"It's now the moment to take a break and rejuvenate so I can be fully prepared for Misano."
Marquez and Bagnaia were lucky to escape without major injuries and are set to return to the Misano circuit this weekend.
Marc Marquez, who is both Alex's teammate and brother, secured victory in the Aragon race. Meanwhile, Jorge Martin's second-place finish has extended his lead over Bagnaia to 23 points.
